If you’re looking for older bill jackets that aren’t available online or Court of Appeals briefs and records that aren’t available on CourtPASS–or really any government- or law-related material–try the New York State Library. The materials you’re looking for may have been digitized already, so check the digital catalog to see if it has what you want. Failing that, you might try the research librarians at (518) 474-5355. For litigation documents or bill jackets, you’ll want to have the relevant identifying information handy; for other materials, it’s best practice to look through the library catalog to be as precise as possible about what you’re looking for. And if you don’t know what you’re looking for, the librarians may be able to help you too. (Note that there will likely be a charge if the librarians locate documents and scan them for delivery to you. But the librarians will give you an estimate before they start work so you’re not caught by surprise.)
